Drury East Precinct

Auckland

Since 2018, we been involved in the transport planning of the Drury East precincts. We provided an initial ITA for a Structure Plan submission, followed by further ITAs through the Plan Change, Covid Fast Track consent and resource consent processes. The developments enabled provide for a new metropolitan centre next to the new Drury Central Rail Station and several thousand new households. Our contributions included strategic modelling, design of access and collector road networks integrated with active transport links to the station, and transport staging aligned with the New Zealand Upgrade Programme’s arterial improvements. We liaised extensively with Auckland Council, Auckland Transport, NZTA and developers, and prepared expert evidence for hearings, demonstrating how triggering transport infrastructure is sequenced to support a coordinated development.

Beachlands South

Auckland

As transport adviser to the Beachlands South Private Plan Change 88, we supported development of a sizeable coastal community south of existing Beachlands township, now approved for around 3,000 homes anchored by a village centre, schools, employment zones and a coastal walkway. The precinct emphasises public-transport focus, walkability, active mode use and low-carbon urban form. Our role encompassed preparing ITAs, designing road staging tied to development triggers, and ensuring safe pedestrian and cycling movement within the neighbourhood and to Pine Harbour ferry services. We also presented expert evidence to the Council Hearing, and provided liaison with authorities and residents throughout the process. This masterplanned layout supports mode shift and walkable connections central to transport selfsufficiency across residential, employment and retail precinct elements

Redhills Precinct

Westgate, Auckland

In the development of the Redhills Precinct, a large-scale residential expansion at Westgate designed to accommodate over 10,000 homes, we provided transport modelling and master-planning support for the precinct structure plan. We delivered detailed ITAs covering road access design, traffic generation and connectivity to surrounding arterial networks. Our role extended into the consenting phase, where we represented client interests in mediation processes and prepared expert witness evidence for the hearings. This engagement ensured robust traffic planning that supports long-term integrated growth outcomes across the site.

Spedding Block Precinct

Whenuapai, Auckland

The Spedding Block Precinct in Whenuapai was the subject of a successful plan change, followed by successful resource consent processes. We led the transport component of master planning, including preparation of the ITA tied to the plan change application, and crafted access solutions, ensuring safe connectivity to local road networks. Our transport modelling demonstrated that the precinct’s proposed industrial typologies could be supported by measured upgrades without undue impact on surrounding intersections.

Three Kings Quarry Precinct

Auckland

Working on the Three Kings Quarry redevelopment, we provided traffic and transport direction for repurposing the former quarry site into a mixed-use urban precinct. Our scope covered access planning, intersection design, parking strategy, and an ITA that addressed large-format redevelopment. By modelling traffic flows and proposing access staging, we contributed to strategies mitigating peak-period impacts and offering viable multimodal access solutions. This redevelopment forms a key innercity regeneration project, and our transport advice ensured infrastructure plans were aligned with local traffic capacity, active mode provisions, and integration with adjacent land uses.

Westfield Shopping Centres

Newmarket, Albany, St Lukes, Glenfield, West City Chartwell

We have supported transport planning and traffic engineering design services across multiple Westfield shopping centre redevelopment stages in Auckland, including Newmarket, Albany (Stages 1 & 2), St Lukes, Glenfield, West City  and Chartwell. Transport input involved site access design, traffic generation modelling, parking logistics, and managing the interface with suburban arterial networks. We contributed to development consent and appeal processes, advising on pedestrian movement, parking integration, and peak-hour traffic impact mitigation, helping maximise centre access while minimising traffic disruption for adjacent residential areas.

Woolworths Supermarkets

Ponsonby, Hobsonville, Beachlands, Onehunga, Te Rapa, Spotswood

We delivered transport and access strategies for multiple new Woolworths supermarket sites across New Zealand, including Ponsonby, Hobsonville, Beachlands, Onehunga, Te Rapa and Spotswood. Each location posed unique challenges—from constrained urban inner-city access at Ponsonby, to greenfield layout planning at Hobsonville and Beachlands. We performed site-specific ITAs, network demand modelling, and public transport planning support. These assessments enabled efficient layout design, minimised traffic disruption, and optimised access integration with surrounding local road hierarchies and bus networks.

Bunnings Developments

Auckland (Westgate, New Lynn, Grey Lynn, Takanini & Mount Wellington)

We have delivered strategic transport and traffic advice for several significant Bunnings Warehouse projects across Auckland, including large-format sites at Westgate, New Lynn, Grey Lynn, Takanini, and Mount Wellington. At Westgate, our services supported the planning of New Zealand’s largest Bunnings store on a 2hectare site, working with the Bunnings project team to model access arrangements for significant vehicle volumes and integrate adjacent road interfaces. In New Lynn, our transport inputs accompanied a new Bunnings complex featuring a full basement car park—a first for the chain in New Zealand—ensuring safe circulation, customer parking flow and pedestrian access to adjacent road networks. At Grey Lynn, we reviewed access strategies amidst urban density, addressing traffic, delivery impacts and safe pedestrian interface in central Auckland’s constrained environment.
